The Fruit Jar Gold of Benton Springs

There’s speculations that a number of jars of raw gold and coins are buried near some cabins close to Benton, California. Two indian squaws named Long Jane and Lizzie lived in shacks close to Benton Springs. As late as 1928 they visited the general store and exchanged fruit jars full of raw gold for supplies and gold coins, and always in the spring of the year. They died around 1960.

Gold was discovered in Benton in 1862 and it became a boomtown, soon reaching a height of 6000 inhabitants. In 2000 the population was down to 196 people, but there should still be some people alive that may remember the location of Long Jane and Lizzie’s cabins.

Ask around and it might just pay off! If you can find the cabins you should be able to find the buried treasure with a metal detector.
